The goal of this blog is to help teach others about energy sensing. Since my experiences involving and using energy sensing, it’s become a useful tool in daily life. While I wouldn’t consider myself a master at it by any means, I think I’ve honed my skills more than the average person. As well, my background comes from the skeptic side of things to be turned into a regular practice.
In this first post, my goal is to just give you a little background of how I stumbled into this and the short version of my interpretation of what’s going on. In later posts, I’ll try to cover beginner techniques that I recall going through myself that help lead me to discovering I had any ability at all, to more advanced techniques as these posts progress.
Where to start, I’m not sure. The best place I suppose I could start is in martial arts class. This was probably one of my first entry points to accepting the possibility of this being even possible. I took Bujinkan for a number of years. In America, people might recognize the word Ninjutsu a little better, like ninja, but not the Hollywood version of it. Really, Ninjutsu is a lot like the martial arts that black op’s style military uses, and many of the moves are kept as concealed or deceptive as possible. Ninjutsu had a bit of a spiritual side to it, though no more than any other martial art I suppose. But it had an element of that sort of supernatural magic that the Ninjas of film seem to have still.
Occasionally in class, we would do what was called a sensing drill. One example was the class would stand around in a circle. One person would stand in the center of the circle with their eyes closed. Somebody in the circle would silently raise their hand, signaling they were going to be “it”. Their goal was to focus on the person in the center and think about beating them up, tearing them apart, setting them on fire, etc and to direct this hostility with an intent of action. Everyone else in the circle, their goal was to clear their minds or to think relatively positive thoughts. The person in the center, their goal was to clear their mind of any and all though (Which might be much harder than you would think it is.) and just become receptive. And in that receptive state of quieted mind, sense out the person directing the ill intent towards you, with their eyes still closed.
Having experienced that myself, I’d say there was definitely something to it. The first few times usually went best for people, with the majority of them picking out the right person the first couple times, if not at least in the right direction. My trouble was after the first couple times, I’d start to think about it. Things like “Well, the person on my left was first, and then it was a person on my right… So it’ll probably come from the left now this time… unless that’s what they want me to think, and they’ll actually go on my right… but then again, it could come from behind me or in front of me too…” And from there I would miss it every time as soon as I’d start to do it, and it was a very hard processes for me to shut off.
When I would discuss what I “saw” or experienced while doing this exercise with others, they would often report experiencing similar things. Like I would experience this sort of vibration line of half red and half blue. And the red side would direct towards the person focusing on me, and the vibration line would get bigger in amplitude and pull towards that person as I got closed to them. Which isn’t the best description, because I’m seeing this in my mind’s eye or imagination really, more than anything on the back of my eye lids, and I’m not really finding them. It’s more that I would turn my brain off, and if I could do that long enough, this thing I was seeing would seek them out. The really hard part is you’re watching this line, but you can’t think about it or focus on it because as soon as you do it goes away. Which sounds impossible to do, to pay attention to something you have to not pay attention to for it to exist, but that was the goal of the exercise. And when I’d explain this other people would say things like they also saw red and blue in a similar fashion, but not vibration line and the colors were reversed for them or something similar.
One other example was one of the 10th degree black belt tests. To pass this test, you had to kneel down on the ground with your eyes closed or blindfolded. Somebody would stand directly behind you with a live sword up in the air ready to swing down on you. You’d goal was just to sense when they were going to swing and move out of the way. They would swing quickly and without warning, and you weren’t allowed to roll before they swung. We would practice for this, but only using a foam or wood sword, neither of which still felt all that great when bopping you over the head. Again, my experience here was that were was something to it.
Standing with my eyes closed, I’d often experience something akin to how they would draw Spidey Sense in the Spiderman comics. Like this white flash going off behind me as a warning (again in my head, with my eyes closed) and I would just roll before even thinking about it, only to look back and see the sword down on the ground behind me. And it wasn’t that I had heard or physically felt them move on the mat. That I had experienced as well and is a very different sensation. This, they often describe as a gentle breeze pushing you out of the way just in time. And the people swinging were pretty good at not swing before you moved, a habit the newer students have (They’d see you start to roll early, and then would try to catch up with the sword, rather than telling you that you had screwed up.) Though, that bad habit led to an observation I had one day.
One of the newer students was swinging for an advanced student. I watched while standing in line for my turn to go. The new kid wasn’t particularly good at holding or swinging the sword and really had to focuses and think about it to do the motion. The student he was swinging for was really good at this dodging exercises and almost always moved out of the way in time. When you swing a sword, you are supposed to think about your goal. Visualize cutting through the person or object in front of you as you swing. That’s part of the intent of it. The new kid knew that was part of the exercise, but doing the proper swing and focusing on that thought was a lot for his brain to processes right away. I watched as he tried to hold the sword up, not really moving and looking like he’s thinking really hard about what he’s going to do, as the advanced student then started to half roll and then pulled back like something was wrong. He looks back to see if he screwed up and asks “Did you swing?” The new guy says “No. Um. Well, I thought about the swinging but I hadn’t swung yet.” And the advanced student tells him “Swing and then focus on cutting through as you swing. Do them at the same time.” And he swings and the advance student dodges, and the line moves up. But a thought pops into my head. What if it isn’t the actual swinging that we’re picking up on? What if it’s just the intent to swing? And now I have something to test.
I get up to the front of the line and now I’m swinging for the same advanced student. I know how to hold and swing a sword, so that part shouldn’t be a problem. But I have no intent of swinging down just yet. I hold the sword up, and wait for him to appear ready. I wait a moment more, clear my own head, and without budging, focus on the idea of swing the sword down and cutting through him. Just as I hit the thought, he does the same half jump. Like he felt something coming but something was off too. He looks back and I signal I hadn’t swung and then we go on to complete the exercise like usual, but it left me with that idea that people really can pick up on other peoples intentions.
Still, none of this is really a start of my ability to get into energy sensing in everyday life by any means. And it’s very impractical to need to clear your head of all thought to be able to pull something like this off. But this, and other exercises were the entry point to peak my curiosity to try other things later in life. Which leads us to the next phases of my life that lead me into this.
I’ve been a bit fan of the Matrix movies ever since they came out. I love the style, and just as much I love the philosophy. But like most people, after watching the second two movies, I had no clue what had really happened in them. The third movie ended, and I wasn’t really sure what had just happened or how to interpret any of it. But, the movie buff I am, I had the box set of the movies with all the making of material. While watching those, I had noticed a part where the actors were talking about how the directors made them read three books before they could even start the movie. In hopes of being able to understand the ending better, I sought out those books to read myself. The books were “Simulacra and Simulation”, “The Tao of Physics”, and “Out of Control: The New Biology of Machines, Social Systems, and the Economic World”, All three of which I found extremely fascinating. Not only did those books add a significant amount of meaning to the Matrix movies that I hadn’t gotten before, they also opened me up to a whole new world of science, social networks and philosophy.
In a talk to a friend at the time over these books, he pointed me to a book called “The Holographic Universe”, which was in line with the other titles and the worlds they sort of opened up. (All of these books are absolutely amazing and I recommend them to anybody and everybody to read at some point in their life. I’ll probably talk more about those titles later, but for now I will just briefly mention them.) In that book there was a section about something called Therapeutic Touch. In short, it was talking about people who had the apparent ability to help heal people with just touch. And not even touch. Just holding their hands over a person without touching. And I don’t mean some Mystic healer or Shaman that people went to and said they felt better. These were licensed nurses and doctors who had gotten this training and used it in their work, and were performing measureable changes in people, in hospitals, without even touching them. Now to explain the synchronicity that had sort of lined up in my life that drew me to this at the time, I have to briefly jump back into the martial arts.
My martial arts class had disbanded. Short of some B martial arts movie, my sensie had had a soap opera of a year, having gotten married, been in law school, bought a house with his wife, remodeled the house, gotten a divorce from his wife, found out he got colon cancer in his 20’s, sold his house, was getting chemo for the cancer while studding for the bar, passed the bar and beat the cancer. All that, and while he’s gone, some guy from Cali starts coming to our class and basically starts to take over while he’s gone in treatment, and when he comes back, they’re basically battling for control of the class to the point where he’s basically done, stops doing the class, and moves away to start a new life. No idea what happened with the other guy, but if that isn’t the stuff of ninja movies, iduno what is. Anyway, I was classless, but still wanted to train in some way. Ninjtsu isn’t like Kung Fu and there’s not much you can practice without another person there, so I started to look towards the more spiritual side of it, to explore the whole sensing thing more.
Around the same time as reading The Holographic Universe, I had been online looking for videos to help in my training. I had stumbled across one on YouTube.com that discussed ways of building your chi, and it covered a mediation I had done in at least a couple martial arts classes before that I had never understood. The short version was you sit on your knees, close your eyes, clear your head and then put your hands up like you’re praying. Then, pull your hands apart. Keep your hands relaxed and apart, but press them together as hard as you can. Now I don’t know about you, but that never made any sense to me how I could do both of those as the same time, and I’m not sure it did to any of my teachers either. I always assumed it was one of those “What’s the sound of one hand clapping” sort of things. But this video I found explained otherwise.
You are keeping your hands apart and relaxed, but you’re pushing your chi together between your hands. It’s your energy directing between your hands and holding there. And if you’re good you could really build up the pressure between your hands and concentrate your energy. Now, for where I was at the time, that was all well and good, but really didn’t help much more. I didn’t feel I had any really good concept of what chi was or how it moved in my body. BUT! I had just been reading this certain book, talking about people doing healing touch, and the basic things they search for is this very subtle sensation of heat, or pressure or vibration that signal health of disease in people. So, I start connecting the dots, and wonder if that’s what that meditation was all along. An exercise to develop the sensitivity and control over your “chi” or ability to sense it.
So, I set out on an experiment. Take what I’ve got from martial arts and meditation and combine it with what I’ve read about healing and therapeutic touch and see if I can sense this mysterious field that these books and oldest martial arts keep talking about. My goal was to give it three months and see if anything happened. I’d practice regularly before bed for at least ten minutes, but often going to half an hour using a small handful of techniques, which we will discuss as we go. Obviously, you can guess how that went if I’m writing this now. But the processes from there is what will be covered as we go on in this blog.
So the quick version of what we’re talking about when energy sensing. For starters, if you can, or if you had ever read The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot, or The Field by Lynne McTaggart you will have a large head start in your understanding of this. Otherwise, I can give you my interpretation of what’s going on, as there’s no real consensus in science yet about it.
Everything is vibration. At least when you get to the subatomic world. There’s ever suggestion that all our senses are based on vibration. We see by light, which are wave of photons. Hearing is vibration carried through the air. There’s even evidence that things like smell and taste happen through vibration. While we feel pressure from things like touch, we know on the subatomic level, nothing is actually ever touching anything else and everything is held together and repelled by fields. String theory says at matters smallest level the universe is made up of these small vibrating rings and may or may not exist, and perhaps it’s just the even an idea of them that exist. And forgive me here, this is sort of the cliff notes version of this science, if I’m being inaccurate or speaking beyond your current understanding of the working of things. (Again, going back to books for further education, I’d recommend The Tao of Physics if you want a basic understanding of Physics.) So all our senses are vibration in some way. Again, take heat for instance. Heat is caused when particles vibrate more and more, creating a type of energy that we experience in one way. Heat is interpreted trough our skin and our skin sends a signal to our brain to experience that type of vibration in a certain way. Now, if you wanted, you could cross those wires. It’s all about getting the signal to the brain, not so much how it gets there. People can experience things like Synesthesia where a person might interpret sound as a color they see, or touch something and then experience a kind of smell. As well, science has tapped into this too, and developed sensors so a blind person could see through their taste buds via a censor placed on them. The body parts are just various types of censors for these vibration signals.
So let’s run with that theory for a second. Everything is vibration. We use this vibration as a type of information that our senses interpret one way or another and the information we currently have access to we define as our senses. What if there was another way to read that vibration out there and get that information? What if we could create our own vibration, to send information out there, and affect the information outside of ourselves and change it?
To some of you this may sound very mystical and magic, and maybe even something dark or forbidden. To me, it’s like any other technology or tool. It can be used for good, or for ill will. It’s dependent on how you choose to use it. There’s only as much evil going on here as the person wielding the tool. And I can’t stress that enough. This isn’t the work of the devil, and I’m not particularly sure it’s the work of God, at least any more than any other function of the universe would be an act of God. Used properly, this is a great tool that can be used to benefit the health of mankind, expose truth and dispel the lies of the world, and make general life easier.
How I’ve used energy sensing in my life has sort of covered a range of areas. I started out with healing work, having started from the Therapeutic Touch intro, and have used it on a number of friends, experiencing mild to great turnarounds inhealth during its use. As well, I use it in everyday life. Somehow it knows what books I like, what produce is the best out there, and what friends would actually like for gifts. You can use it to find out when people are lying or telling the truth. And you can use it for guidance in what you should do in your life as part of your life path, for the benefit of your happiness. And as far as I can tell, as I continue to explore this, it’s almost designed in a way that makes it harder to harm others than help them. One of the more interesting discoveries from it is that when it comes to decisions based on other people’s choices, nothing is defined until they’ve made those choices. That free will dictates fate like streams flowing together. You can’t force people to participate in what they haven’t chosen to participate in at some level. And I feel, if nothing else, understanding that relationship with people has really helped me in working with others and maintaining my own happiness.
So that’s the overview of where we will go from here. Feel free to participate in the exercises I post here. Please understand that these writings and merely my opinion or take on them. I can only suggest that you do what feels right for you to try, and that not everything may work for you as everybody is different. And know I can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do and that anything you do here, you are participating out of your own free will. If you have questions or comments, feel free to post them here, and I’ll do my best to address questions people might have.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you find at least some of what you’re looking for here.
